MY JOURNEY TO HEAD OF EXPERIENCE

Be brave and don’t delay. Take some time to think about what really makes you happy in your current role, and where you could take those elements next.

I started as an Account Executive in 2012. It was a brilliant role to kick-start my career in the industry. I was able to contribute to the creation of concepts and gained a real taste of event production; I loved it! After a few years, I took on a new role as Brand Experience Manager, designing experiences for people and seeing their reactions in real-time (something that will always make me tick!).
Soon, I managed a small team who would take our big ideas and bring them to life. We worked on incredible live events for the likes of Muller, John West, Bentley Motors, and Nike. The agency slowly changed from an events-focused agency to a full-service creative marketing agency. I developed new skills along the way and transferred them to the world of content production, where I retained a unique role, equally weighted between creativity and production.
I loved coming up with the ideas, but I couldn't stand the thought of simply handing them over to someone else to produce (I loved the full process of seeing them come to life right through to the end!)Eventually, I got promoted to Head of Creative Delivery, where I managed the Creatives/Production team across numerous different outputs, including live events, content, art direction, and digital. I had some incredible experiences during that role!
When Covid hit, I took some time to reflect on my career. I compiled a list of all the things I loved about my job and aligned them with what I wanted to see in my next chapter.
After lots of discussion with the team and some coaching and mentoring, we designed the role that i'm in now, Head of Engagement within the People and Culture team! Now, I'm responsible for designing and delivering initiatives internally to engage our team with the Ear to the Ground brand and their jobs. -
I love seeing peoples reactions to even the smallest initiatives. I get joy out of people enjoying their jobs and i get to see this on different scales all the time now.
I love getting to spend more time with people across the business and get to know what makes them tick / gets them excited about their jobs.

Dramatically. I've seen it transition from live agency to full service creative agency. The culture has developed massively and in a positive way. It's a much bigger team now. We've gone from being a Manchester agency to an agency thats connected to the entire world via the network. It feels big.

There’s a great energy in the team at the moment, I can’t wait to see what magic we create next.
